I think that this photograph captures the essence of "smelly" to a tee. I was drawn to the man's candid reaction to whatever he is holding in his hands--I am not sure what it is he is holding, but it doesn't matter because I am more interested in his facial expression than anything else.
I like how you have focused on the man and let the background blur. Perhaps you used the portrait mode? I can tell that he's in a store, but nothing in the background distracts the viewer.
The only thing that I might consider is moving back a bit from the subject so that you can see all of his arms/elbows.
Overall, this is an intriguing shot that makes me want to know this man's story.
